Sustainability at Promised land
At Promised Land Lodge, sustainability is not a trend but a daily commitment woven into the way we live and operate. As a locally owned, boutique hotel, we believe responsible tourism should support both the environment and the community that surrounds us.
We proudly employ local staff and work closely with the people of Kizimkazi, ensuring that our lodge directly contributes to the local economy and preserves traditional knowledge and skills. During construction and renovations, we use local craftsmen and builders, valuing traditional techniques while reducing our environmental footprint.
Our rooms are furnished with locally made furniture, and all amenities are sourced locally whenever possible, supporting small businesses and reducing unnecessary transport. In our kitchen, we focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients - collecting fish daily from the local fish market and growing some of our own crops through our small farm and garden.
We continuously look for eco-friendly solutions in our everyday operations, from mindful resource use to reducing waste and choosing sustainable alternatives wherever possible. Every decision, big or small, is made with respect for Zanzibar’s natural beauty, its people, and future generations.
By staying with us, guests become part of a more conscious way of traveling — one that values authenticity, community, and sustainability.
