"To choose Promised Land as our wedding destination and invite friends and family from around the world ended up being the best decision! My husband and I were looking for a secluded, 'personal' place where our loved ones could spend time together without the stress of being in a packed tourist resort. The place is basic but very charming, if you are looking for a stress free environment with nice people around you, then this is the place!
The owners of the lodge were extremely accommodating and helpful in the preparation stage and we felt very calm arranging everything remotely. As we finally arrived, we got the full attention and for instance, through local connections had hand craft made for decoration which turned out beautiful.
During the stay, our guests were taken care of and everybody were very happy with the service, the location and the food. Some went on day trips arranged by the lodge and had a wonderful time.
The wedding itself was very well organized, we had two dhows that took us out to a beautifully decorated sand bank and then back to a magnificent Zanzibarian buffet dinner followed by dancing all night long.
We were incredible lucky to have found this place, with reliable and helpful owners - we really did not have to worry about anything. Any email we sent, the reply was swift and accommodating which we very much appreciated.
We highly recommend this place if you are looking for accommodation outside the beaten track of tourists, close to nature!"

"We just returned from the Promised Land Lodge where we spent a week with relatives and friends for a wedding event which was hosted there. Shebi and his staff did a fantastic job of coordinating a family wedding. They were all very friendly and accommodating. The entire resort was dedicated to the wedding. Custom meals focusing on the fresh caught local fish and Zanzibari dishes were prepared, the beach bar was well- stocked and a wonderful place for new and old friends to relax and have fun. Anu, the bartender, worked hard to personalize and add whimsy to the fun. Many guests chose to relax in the many hammocks, swings, outdoor seating areas, or by the campfire at night. The bongo drums added a fun sense of "island". There are any outside excursions the staff can set up for you including the taxi. If you're looking for an atmosphere to relax, get away from it all, do some beach combing and sun bathing you would enjoy it. It does take a little time to to acclimate to the heat and get used to the more primitive hut living and lack of western amenities, but it works and the trade-off for a secluded and authentic getaway is worth it."
